Address verification on nebenan.de checks your name and address to ensure that only real neighbors gain access. Verification options include SMS code, postcard with access code, invitation via email or link, flyer with access code, and location sharing via GPS. This serves to protect all users.
Address verification means verifying your address details: Does your name, street, house number, postal code exist, and do you actually live at the given address? Because nebenan.de is a platform for neighbors. Through address verification, we ensure that only people who really live in the respective neighborhood can register. This is for the protection of all nebenan.de users, including yourself.
We check the name and address of all new users on nebenan.de. The following options are available to verify yourself:
- Verification via SMS. Enter your phone number. We will send you a six-digit code via SMS (this may take a moment). By entering this code, you gain access to your neighborhood on nebenan.de. We process your phone number solely for the purpose of verification. We do not store your mobile number. Your consent is voluntary and can be revoked at any time. You can find more information in our Privacy Policy.
- Request a postcard with a personal access code. By entering this code, you gain access to your neighborhood on nebenan.de. Shipping and delivery of the postcard can take 3-5 days.
- If you have been invited by email or link from a neighbor who is already verified in your shared neighborhood, you can join directly by clicking on the link.
- If you receive a flyer with an access code from your neighbor, you can also join your neighborhood directly by entering the code. However, this code does not work in other neighborhoods.
- Verification via location sharing (GPS): You grant us one-time access to your location and can thus be verified. Afterward, your location will no longer be recorded by us.
