The app sends push notifications for popular posts that receive many interactions and displays them as news under the bell icon. Users can enable or disable these notifications in their profile settings. In the iOS app, the app badge can be disabled without turning off push notifications. The popular post is a new notification; it is sent both as a push notification via the app and displayed as news under the bell icon within the app.
With this feature, we want to draw users' attention to which posts are currently receiving a lot of interactions. We hope many of you will take advantage of this offer.
If you want to be notified about popular posts or no longer want to receive these notifications, go to your profile settings under “Notifications” -> “Posts” -> “Popular Posts” and enable or disable the respective notification.

Regarding the notifications you see in the app under the bell icon: Currently, it is not possible to manually delete or turn off these. However, they are automatically removed or replaced by new ones.
If you use the iOS app and find the number on the app icon annoying, you can turn off this badge (app badge updates) without disabling push notifications. To do this, go to your smartphone’s settings, select the nebenan.de app settings, and disable app badge updates. You will find this under “Badges.”
You will still receive push notifications as set in your profile. However, the number on the app icon will no longer be displayed when there are new news items in the app.
