The "Notifications" section under the bell icon displays news such as new messages, replies, events, or mentions. These notifications are personalized and cannot be manually deleted but are automatically updated. In the iOS app, the app badge can be disabled without turning off push notifications. Additionally, local business profiles can be recommended.
"Notifications" or "News" is a section under the bell icon located at the top next to your profile picture in the web version or at the bottom of the screen in the apps.
If there is news for you, it will be shown with a small number (number = count of news) on the bell.
Examples of news include:
- New inbox messages
- Replies to one of your posts or posts you commented on
- New events
- New event polls
- New group
- New group members in a group you have also joined
- New participant in your event
- A neighbor mentioned you
Your own posts, your own events, and your own comments on posts are not listed in the notifications.
The news history is personalized and only visible to the respective user. This means that only you are informed about new messages in the inbox, but not your neighbors.
Note: Currently, notifications under the bell icon cannot be manually deleted or disabled. However, they are automatically removed or replaced by new ones.
If you use the iOS app and find the number on the app icon annoying, you can disable this indicator (app badge updates) without disabling push notifications. To do this, go to your smartphone’s settings, select the nebenan.de app settings, and deactivate the app badge updates. You will find this under "Badges".
You will still receive push notifications as set in your profile. However, the number on the app icon will no longer be displayed when there is new news in the app.
Recommend Businesses
In addition to the news, you will be shown 10 profiles of local businesses. You will be asked if you can recommend them.
Click on the entry to view the business profile. You can then click the Recommend button with the heart on the profile to recommend it. Or you can also click the heart or the "Recommend" button directly from the news list entry.
To see more business profiles, click "Next" or "Continue".
