Basics on Posts and Comments

The following rules apply to your posts and comments

nebenan.de is a network that aims to contribute to neighborhood community. Therefore, posts on nebenan.de may not be published on arbitrary topics, but only on topics that have a connection to your neighborhood (specific topic limitation). Make sure that your posts always have a neighborhood connection in terms of content.

A neighborhood connection exists, for example, in cases of: 

• neighbors joining together for a joint litter pick or creating community gardens
• tips about good restaurants, nice playgrounds, or other leisure tips 

A neighborhood connection does not exist, for example, in cases of: 

• sharing memes or chain letters
• discussions about national political topics 
• sharing or linking to newspaper articles, videos, or websites on topics such as religion, esotericism, etc.

nebenan.de stands for friendly and respectful exchange among neighbors and is therefore a platform with a clear stance. We ask for your understanding that there are topics and behaviors we do not tolerate on the platform.

This initially applies to content that we consider illegal or criminally relevant. These are:

• Hate speech / political extremism
• terrorist / unconstitutional content
• violence
• harmful or dangerous actions
• insults / violations of personal rights
• privacy
• pornographic content

Reports we receive under these illegal main categories are primarily checked for their criminal relevance.

Beyond criminally relevant content, we reserve the right according to our Terms of Use (section 4.2) to delete posts or close discussions whose content violates our guidelines. These include:

• posts or discussions without content related to your neighborhood
• insults, degrading comments, and discrimination of persons, including based on their religion, origin, nationality, physical condition, income status, sexual identity, age, skin color, or gender
• violations of rights of third parties (persons, institutions, organizations, companies)
• hate speech
• calls for violence
• political and religious extremism, racism, and hate propaganda
• spreading false news and conspiracy theories
• (sexualized) harassment
• pornography and obscenities
• calls for campaigns, demonstrations, and petitions of any political direction

• publishing private addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers of third parties without their consent  
• publishing private correspondence (letters, emails, etc.) with third parties without their consent
• private manhunts
• sending personal messages to neighbors for advertising purposes (spamming).

For posts with financial compensation the following applies

• Offering products and services for systematic monetary gain through your private profile is not allowed and is classified by us as unauthorized advertising.
• However, if it is a non-profit organization or association, these often operate cost-covering and not profit-oriented. This is allowed.

• If you want to use nebenan.de to earn money as a local business, self-employed person, freelancer, artist, etc., you can create a business profile at gewerbe.nebenan.de.
  

For posts concerning an organization/association the following applies

• Content concerning your organization/association may only be published with an organization profile.
• This also includes job advertisements from your organization.

For private fundraising appeals the following applies

• It is generally allowed to ask for financial support for private emergency situations once on nebenan.de.
• Appeals for in-kind donations are generally allowed on nebenan.de at any time.
• To prevent abuse, certain rules apply, which you can read here.
• If you want to start a fundraising appeal for a non-profit organization (e.g., your association), please create a free organization profile.
